Flexible packaging company Wipak has opened a new extrusion plant in Germany, which can be used to produce thermoforming films with better transparency.

According to the company, the films produced at the plant will be marketed by it under the Superclear and NICE brands.

The plant will also produce films made with formulations based on polymers and barrier material EVOH, which can provide further improved optical and mechanical properties.

Depending on the application, the technology used in the plant is said to enable the film thickness to be minimized by up to 30%, the company added.

The German plant is the third facility operated by Wipak, while the other two are located in the Finnish facilities Nastola and Valkeakoski.
