Qantas Freight Embarks on New Business Model to Integrate Aae

Qantas Freight has revealed the business model and executive leadership team under which the combined Qantas Freight and Australian air Express business will operate.

The combined business will have an integrated domestic and international network and sales function, but will maintain separate domestic and international operations.

Air freight customers have been promised significantly improved flexibility with more destinations and more choice of service levels. Under the new model, QF will have a central point managing the freight capacity of all international and domestic passenger and freight aircraft. By the end of the year QF will also have a single sales and customer service function offering, for the first time ever, a complete international and domestic service, the ability to book on a single air waybill, receive one account and track through a single system.

QF is also promising handled carrier customers that the new model will improve the consistency of service across its network of domestic and international facilities. QF will, however, maintain separate domestic and international operations to ensure that it is continuing to service the distinct needs of each market.

As part of the changes, all AaE international client airline handling work in Brisbane and Melbourne will move to the respective Qantas Terminals in March/April. All other international and domestic terminal operations remain unchanged.

The way the QF business looks and how customers will interact with it will also change. Next month it will start rebranding terminals and aircraft. Customers will also progressively start to see domestic team members in Qantas uniforms.

Over the coming months, QF will work to bring together its IT systems and back-office functions. As part of this process, the AaE website will be redirected to qantasfreight.com from 14 February 2013, with all the same functionality available via the Qantas Freight site or existing browser bookmarks.

QF executive manager Lisa Brock is supported by an executive leadership team of eight.
